The West Waddy / Lagan Homes planning application for 29 houses on the field next to Bodkin’s has been published on the South Oxfordshire District Council’s planning website (see below).

Thank you to all the speakers and residents who came to the Annual Parish Assembly on 15th March in the Village Hall. Presentations were made by a number of village groups, our county and district councillors and members of the parish council.
The meeting was opened by Gordon Rogers, chairman of the parish council, who welcomed the speakers and residents, and talked about the main issues currently facing the council.

The much anticipated second Art of Culham exhibition will take place from 10am to 2pm on Saturday 28th April 2018 at St Paul’s Church, Culham.
On display will be work of fourteen artists who all live or work in Culham, their ages range from sixteen to eighty-six.
Children’s art activities will be running throughout the day where kids can make a clay pot, paint, draw, and make a mosaic. Refreshments of tea, coffee and cakes will be available. Continue reading

Long Wittenham Athletics Club is seeking a grant of £750 to cover the cost of drawing up plans to improve facilities at the clubhouse in Bodkin’s Field. The club is to approach South Oxfordshire District Council which has a capital grants scheme to help community projects. The parish council may also make a contribution.
At the March meeting of the parish council club secretary Ron Carter said they were undergoing a complete make-over to tidy up and improve the clubhouse and surrounding area. Long Wittenham’s district councillor Sue Lawson has promised to help “fast-track” the Parish Council’s revised Neighbourhood Development Plan (NDP) and referendum when they go for approval to South Oxfordshire District Council.
The NDP includes plans for a Community Hub comprising thirty-five to forty homes, a new school, pre-school and village hall on land off Didcot Road. If approved by residents in a referendum then the revised NDP should give the parish council a larger measure of certainty against future attempts by developers to muscle in on land. Continue reading
A grant of up to £1,500 from South Oxfordshire District Council will go towards paying for a section of new hedge and pedestrian gate at the playing field in Bodkin’s Field. This will tidy the area around the recently installed playground equipment and make a secure boundary along Northfield Lane.
The grant has come from our district councillor Sue Lawson. Each councillor has an allocation of £5,000 which they can put towards good causes in their wards. The grant will be used to fund 60% of the work with the Parish Council funding the other 40%. Continue reading
The Annual Parish Assembly will take place next Thursday 15th March at 7:30pm in the Village Hall. This is an opportunity for residents to hear from the Chairman of the Parish Council, District & County Councillors, community groups and other organisations in the village about their achievements over the past year and plans for the next twelve months.
