South Oxfordshire Local Plan – Have Your Say

South Oxfordshire District Council (SODC) would like your feedback on how they should manage the need for new houses and employment in South Oxfordshire.

They have prepared the latest draft of the Local Plan which explains where, and why, they consider new houses and employment should be located up until the year 2033.  The plan also explains how they will raise money to provide infrastructure for things like roads, schools, leisure centres, parks and shops.

They have already consulted on three earlier versions of this document, as follows:

“Issues and scope” (June 2014)
“Refined options” (February 2015)

Mrs Taylor unveiled the wooden notice board at the entrance to the orchard at the back of Fieldside and wished the project success.  She said: “The orchard is a valuable community project and I hope villagers and supporters will have many happy years looking after the trees, eating the apples and drinking the juice and cider.”

Community Hub Meeting – Thursday 30th March

The development of the Long Wittenham Neighbourhood Plan is entering it’s final phase and it is hoped that it will be adopted within the next few months.  It is time to start the next stage and the Parish Council and their chosen developer, Thomas Homes, have been working hard on plans for the new ‘Community Hub’.  They hope to submit the planning application to South Oxfordshire District Council in early Summer and they want the views of residents about what it should include, with particular reference to usage, design and facilities.  Should there be an indoor sports area?  Should there be a stage for musical and theatrical performances?  What about an outdoor area to use in the summer?

There will be a meeting in the Village Hall on Thursday 30th March at 7:30pm and Chris Brotherton of Thomas Homes will be there to hear residents’ ideas. Continue reading
