Strange smells in Long Wittenham!
Over the last few months, residents in Sutton Courtenay and Appleford have complained about a smell coming from the nearby Waste Recycling Centre and there have been a couple of times recently when it has been possible to smell it in Long Wittenham. If anyone in Long Wittenham does smell it (a very sweet smell – a bit like the smell in your food bin when you put it out for the binmen), they can report it to the Environment Agency on the freephone number 0800 807060. You will be asked to give your postcode and a brief description of the issue. It will help them to collate the number of odour infringements so that they can work with the waste recycling plant to resolve the issue and, if necessary, issue an odour infringement notice.
Bridge Group of Churches Activity Morning – 26 November
The Bridge Group of Churches are holding an Activity Morning in Long Wittenham Village Hall for children aged 4 and above November 26th 9-11am
Our charity will be Oxfam Unwrapped. We will let you know what item we hope to pay for on the day
An alternative Christmas card

Didcot expansion – call to arms
This week is the last chance for us to influence the housing expansion to the north of Didcot.
There is a public examination of SODC’s plans and it would be great to show the strength of feeling in the village if we have a good turn out in the public gallery at the meeting. We had a good story in the Herald this week to kick things off.
The meeting is on Tuesday 8th November at 10am, in the Council Chambers at the SODC office in Crowmarsh Gifford. Matt Clifton will be presenting on behalf of Long Wittenham and the other local parishes at the meeting so do come along to show your support.
