Vision Zero Strategy Consultation

Oxfordshire County Council (OCC)’s Vision Zero strategy sets out its long-term ambitions for road safety in Oxfordshire.

Road collisions and injuries are on the increase across the county, and OCC wants to improve road safety for all road users.  It wants to hear the views of residents on the Draft Vision Zero Road Safety Strategy, a clear, long-term ambition for improving road safety in Oxfordshire. Community Speedwatch Update

The village Community Speedwatch team has now been in place for one year.

In that time it has checked the speed of over 5,500 vehicles, and recorded 147 drivers speeding.  The team also reports details of likely illegal HGVs to Oxfordshire County Council.  The team has clocked up over 34 hours of roadside sessions during this year. Continue reading

Tollgate Road Culham Closure 6th to 8th March

The Parish Council has been advised by the Network Management team at Oxfordshire County Council (OCC) that there will be a temporary road closure of Tollgate Road, Culham.

The closure and will operate from 6th to 8th March 2024 between 8pm and 6am.  See the Traffic Regulation Notice below.

New Primary School Governor Wanted

Long Wittenham School is looking for a new governor to join the board of governors.

Now part of the Ridgeway Education Trust (RET), it is an exciting time for the school.  This brings opportunities for the staff, children and governors to work together with other RET schools increasing its access to resources, shared learning experiences and specialist subject support. Bonfire Night 2024

November is a long way off, but plans are already afoot to get Village Bonfire Night back up and running at Ward’s Field this year.

Road To Clifton Hampden Closed

The Parish Council has been informed that there are road closed signs on the road to Clifton Hampden advising that the road is flooded.

At present, drivers are ignoring the signs, but please be aware of the potential risks of doing so.

Village Litter Pick – Saturday 6th April

The Spring Litter Pick is set for Saturday 6th April between 10am and noon.   The village has been battered by recent winds and floods and is in need of a thorough clean up.

Come along to the Village Hall where you will be provided with Hi-Viz jackets, gloves, rubbish bags and a litter picking tool.
