Polling takes place today (4th May) here in Long Wittenham for the Sandford and the Wittenhams seat on South Oxfordshire District Council.

The candidates are the incumbent, Sam Casey-Rerhaye, representing the Green Party, and Edwin Samu for the Conservative Party.

Didcot Road Works 15th to 19th May

The Parish Council has been advised that work on Didcot Road to connect the street lighting and zebra crossing beacons will take place between Monday 15th and Friday 19th May.

Oxfordshire Artweeks

The annual Oxfordshire Artweeks kicks off on 6th May and runs until 29th May.

Emergency Alerts System Test

Residents are reminded that the Government will be testing its new Emergency Alerts system at 3pm today (Sunday 23rd April).

The Emergency Alerts system will allow the Government to get urgent messages quickly to nearly 90% of mobile phones in a defined area.  The alerts will only ever come from the Government or emergency services, and they will issue a warning, the details of the area impacted, and instructions Continue reading

Headington School Boathouse

Richard Couzens, the Bursar of Headington School, attended last Thursday’s Parish Council meeting to update the council on the progress of the boathouse being built on The Maddy.

Despite some problems, he is hopeful that the project will be completed by September.
