John Stimson 1939-2022

John Stimson, the former chairman of South Oxfordshire District Council (SODC) and member of Long Wittenham Parish Council, has died.  He was eighty-three and had been suffering from cancer and dementia for the last twelve months.

Solar Streets

The Parish Council has had confirmation that the Didcot Plus Solar Streets scheme is now accepting new enquiries.  Current installation dates are from March 2023 onwards, due to the existing workload that needs to be worked through.

Interested residents should email info@iddea.co.uk with their contact details and full address, putting ‘Didcot Plus SSP enquiry’ as the subject (SSP stands for Solar Streets Project). Continue reading

Village Greens Created

Two new village greens have been created at Dorchester on Thames and Little Wittenham.

The greens, at the historic Dyke Hills, a scheduled Iron Age settlement, and at Day’s Lock Meadow beside the River Thames, have been voluntarily registered by a beneficent landowner, Keith Ives. Continue reading

Bus Service Update

Bus Stop SignGoing Forward Buses, the company that runs the Mondays and Wednesdays bus service between Long Wittenham and Didcot, has announced that from Monday 28th November, there will be an additional afternoon journey to Didcot and back.

Lunch Club Thanks Founder

Members of the Village Lunch Club thanked June Woodage for twenty-five years as the principal organiser of the club at its October meeting in the village hall.
