Pension Credit Application Deadline

Age UK Oxfordshire has asked the Parish Council to remind residents of an important deadline for Pension Credit Applications.

Pension Credit is an income supporting benefit for older people paid by the Department of Work and Pensions (DWP).  It is means tested, so whether people are eligible depends on their financial circumstances.

No Rise in Parish Council Tax

The Parish Council will not be increasing its annual precept this coming year, in a move to help people tackle the cost-of-living crisis which is affecting many households.

The “precept” is the part of the Council Tax that goes to the Parish Council.  The main elements of the council tax bill come from Oxfordshire County Council, South Oxfordshire District Council and Thames Valley Police. Continue reading

Super User Wanted

There is a vacancy for a village FixMyStreet Super User to enable faster fixing of potholes, damaged kerbing and drains.

Fix My Street allows residents to report problems on the roads.  Anything added to Fix My Street results in a council highways inspector visiting the site and assessing each problem to see if a repair is needed according to set criteria.  If it is, they then place an order for the work to be Continue reading

Planning Application

The Parish Council has been advised by South Oxfordshire District Council (SODC) of a new planning application within the village.

The application, at Willingtons Barn, High Street, Long Wittenham, is for a two-storey dwellinghouse, with parking/turning area.

Volunteers Wanted

In addition to the traffic speed check which is scheduled to take place in the near future, following the reduction of the village speed limit from 30 to 20mph, the Parish Council is also reviving a Community Speedwatch group, who will be able to perform regular and ongoing speed checks on traffic through the village.

Festival of Nativities

Come along to the Festival of Nativities at St Mary’s Church between 10:30am and 3:30pm on Saturday 10th December.

The church will be filled with nativity scenes and figures from around the world.
