Bus Service Update

Bus Stop SignThames Travel has announced that it will be reintroducing a Monday to Friday, peak-time bus service between Didcot and Culham Science Centre, starting on 5th September

The 95 service will operate via Ladygrove and Willowbrook Park in Didcot then via Long Wittenham and Clifton Hampden. Continue reading

Sunday Family Funday

The village Pre-School will be hosting a Family Funday at the Athletics Club at Bodkins on Sunday 25th September between 11am and 2pm.

Hosepipe Ban

Thames Water has announced that it is imposing a hosepipe ban (also known as a Temporary Use Ban) on everyone to whom it supplies water from Wednesday 24th August.

A fine of up to £1,000 can be imposed on those who breach the rules.

Electric Blanket Testing

Oxfordshire County Council Trading Standards is again offering is annual free electric blanket testing for residents during September.

You can either go to one of the testing sessions or arrange for a blanket to be collected from your home.

Neptune Wood Meadow Closed

Some residents will have noticed that Neptune Wood meadow is closed.

Earth Trust has announced that it needs to allow the field to be grazed safely by its sheep and so the permissive footpath that runs between Sylva Foundation and Little Wittenham is temporarily closed for about six weeks whilst the livestock is on the site. Continue reading

Bridges Repaired

Residents will be pleased to hear that a bridleway bridge and footpath bridge in the village have recently been repaired by Oxfordshire County Council (OCC), thanks to prompting by the village’s footpath warden, David Corney.

The bridleway bridge across Moor Ditch had been sagging under the weight of horses and is now as good as new. Continue reading

Council Thanks Former Chairman

Parish Councillors acknowledged the service of former chairman Gordon Rogers at a short ceremony held at the Westfield Road play area recently.

Three trees have been planted, one of which marks the service Mr Rogers has given to the council.  He was chairman for five years until May this year and in total had served on the council for eleven years. Continue reading
