Didcot Road / Sires Hill Junction

Residents travelling southwards from the village should be aware that there are multiway traffic signals at the junction of Didcot Road and Sires Hill.

Unfortunately, the Parish Council was not advised of these road works by Oxfordshire County Council.  The OneNetwork website states that the roadworks will continue until 9th May.

The lights may cause delays, particularly at busy times of the day.  You are advised to allow extra time for your journeys.

The amount of temporary lights that we have had had lately is pathetic. Thank goodness the Clifton Hampden ones have gone today.

  2. Ruth McCreight says:

The number of temporary traffic lights round the village of Long Wittenham is a disgrace, some of the work could have been better coordinated. Eg Clifton Hampden bridge closed daytime for so long, why could not the Abingdon Road works have been done at the same time. Poor organisation.

I agree with above comments while I appreciate that the Parish Council was not notified and therefore had no chance to protest! Who are these people and what are they doing?
This junction has already been blocked a month back. It is very frustrating that these disruptions were not coordinated. Who can we complain to? OCC???

Good luck. OCC charge £1,242 plus inspection fees to issue a licence for roadworks and so have little incentive to minimise them.
