Good Causes Encouraged To Sign Up For Community Lottery Funds

Charities, community and voluntary groups across South Oxfordshire are being encouraged to sign up to a new lottery to help them raise funds.  South Oxfordshire District Council aims to launch the lottery in the spring and is inviting good causes to register as beneficaries.

The lottery will give residents the chance to enter a £1 weekly online draw and be in with the chance of winning prizes, ranging from free prize draw tickets to a jackpot up to £25,000.

From each £1 ticket bought, 60p will go to good causes and the local community.  Players will be able to choose which cause they support when they purchase tickets.  The council will not receive any proceeds from the lottery.

Good Causes Launch Event – 28th February 2018

An event is being held for South Oxfordshire-based charities, community and voluntary groups to get more information and register to join the lottery on Wednesday 28th February at Cornerstone in Didcot from 2pm.

Cllr Elizabeth Gillespie, South Oxfordshire District Council’s cabinet member with responsibility for the lottery, said: “This is a really brilliant opportunity for good causes in South Oxfordshire and I’d like to encourage as many community, voluntary and charitable organisations to get signed up.  The lottery will be all about raising funds within the community, for the community, and we do hope everyone will get involved.”

Any good causes that wish to attend are asked to contact the council at:
