New Parish Councillor

Long Wittenham has a new parish councillor.  He is Ian Penberth who was co-opted on to the council at its meeting last Thursday.  His appointment brings the number of councillors to six, one short of its maximum.

Ian lives in Fieldside with his partner Stephanie Martin who is the conductor of the Wittenham Singers.  He is a retired civil engineer with an interest in classic cars and model railways.  A resident of Long Wittenham since 1992, Ian says he wants to play a part in helping shape the future direction of the village.

He said: “The council faces a lot of hard work in the next few years as it tries to forge ahead with the revised Neighbourhood Development Plan (NDP) and the Community Hub which will bring the new school, pre-school, village hall and new homes.  I will be taking a deep interest in the progress of the Hub which is important for the future of the village.”

The council make-up is: Chairman Gordon Rogers, Steve Brown, Sally Duff, Ian Penberth, Peter Rose and Liz Yuille.
