Residents will be aware that the Planning Inspector found South Oxfordshire District Council’s (SODC) local plan ‘sound’. The plan was devised by the Council’s previous Conservative administration.
After winning the election in 2019, by campaigning against the plan, the Lib Dem/Green coalition running South Oxfordshire voted to scrap it, in part because six of the seven strategic sites are on Green Belt land.
Instead the Conservative Secretary of State for Housing, Communities and Local Government, Robert Jenrick, forced them to put it through inspection.
The Lib Dem/Green coalition has started a petition calling on the Secretary of State to respect the outcome of any vote by SODC’s elected Councillors on whether or not to adopt the plan.
You can see a video about the issues and sign the petition on the Oxfordshire Liberal Democrats website.
