Bonfire Night 2024

November is a long way off, but plans are already afoot to get Village Bonfire Night back up and running at Ward’s Field this year.

Those who have attended this event in the past, will fondly remember the fantastic fireworks, glorious bonfire and twinkling lights of the marquees serving hot dogs, burgers and mulled wine.  And if you haven’t been before, you’re in for a treat!

Put Saturday 2nd November in your diaries now and come along for the evening and enjoy the festivities, or rock up during the day to help get everything ready.

There will be usual the wood collection service and hopefully a Guy Fawkes competition, as well as an enormous bonfire to keep you all warm as you wait for the spectacular firework display, provided by Illusion Fireworks.

The organisers would love to hear from any individuals or groups who would like to get involved.  Those who have come along to help in the past have said they have enjoyed that part as much as the event itself.

Although primarily run as a fun village event, past profits have been donated to local projects and local groups in need of funds, many of whom have traditionally helped to run the night (e.g. the Pre-School, the Primary School, Brownies, Rainbows and Scouts, WI and Earth Trust).

It needs the village to make this a successful night, so if you would like to get involved in getting this year’s event off the ground, don’t hesitate to contact Emma Newman on 07765 676765 or email emmanewman@me.com.

The event is brought to you by Long Wittenham Parish Council, supported by Wittenham Warriors with kind permission from the PCC who provide the venue for the evening.
