Bridges Repaired

Residents will be pleased to hear that a bridleway bridge and footpath bridge in the village have recently been repaired by Oxfordshire County Council (OCC), thanks to prompting by the village’s footpath warden, David Corney.

The bridleway bridge across Moor Ditch had been sagging under the weight of horses and is now as good as new. Continue reading

Council Thanks Former Chairman

Parish Councillors acknowledged the service of former chairman Gordon Rogers at a short ceremony held at the Westfield Road play area recently.

Three trees have been planted, one of which marks the service Mr Rogers has given to the council.  He was chairman for five years until May this year and in total had served on the council for eleven years. Continue reading

Road Closure – Ladygrove

The Parish Council has been advised by the Network Management Team at Oxfordshire County Council that the closure of the B4016 Ladygrove, to repair an emergency gas escape by SGN, is expected to last until 16th August.

Mr Simon Courtney-Worthy

Residents who have been following the long saga of Mr Simon Courtney-Worthy and his illegal development of land next to the river off Ward’s Field, will be interested to hear that he appeared in court recently for failing to comply with planning enforcement orders issued by South Oxfordshire District Council (SODC).

He was fined £13,000 and ordered to pay more than £5,000 in costs.  He now has three months to comply with the enforcement notices or face another prosecution. Continue reading

Ride and Stride – Saturday 10th September

Every year, Oxfordshire Historic Churches Trust (OHCT) organises the Ride and Stride event to raise money to keep our wonderful historic churches maintained and cared for.  Both St Mary’s and St Peter’s have benefitted from grants given by OHCT.
