River Club Update

On Wednesday 5th March, a Long Wittenham River Club update meeting took place in the village hall.

The meeting provided an update on the establishment of a River Club, which is necessary for Long & Little Wittenham adult residents to access the floating pontoons at the Headington School’s Boathouse, Maddy’s Moorings, Long Wittenham. Continue reading

Litter Picked!

A big thank you to the more than thirty people, including at least ten youngsters, who turned out for the Litter Pick last Saturday (8th March) morning to help keep our village looking beautiful.

Over thirty sacks of rubbish were collected (see below).  The valiant pickers enjoyed delicious lemon drizzle cake with tea and coffee in the Village Hall afterwards. Continue reading

Village Litter Pick Reminder

A reminder that this year’s Spring Litter Pick will take place tomorrow (Saturday 8th March) between 10am and noon.

Come along to the Village Hall where you will be provided with Hi-Viz jackets, gloves, rubbish bags and a litter picking tool.

New Garden Waste Payment System

Residents can now sign up for a new garden waste permit as part of changes to South Oxfordshire District Council’s subscribed collection service.

The updated scheme, which will launch on 1st April 2025, introduces an annual permit sticker system.  Residents need to pay for their permit to ensure their garden waste collections continue without interruption. Continue reading

Pendon Museum Pop-up Café

The pop-up café at Pendon Museum will be open again on Wednesday 12th March from 10am to 12:30pm.

This is a free drop-in event, with just a small charge for drinks and cake to cover the costs.  All donations from the cakes go to support a local group, so please go along and support it if you can.

Didcot Northern Perimeter Road Consultation

Oxfordshire County Council (OCC) has opened a consultation on its proposals to complete the Northern Perimeter Road in Didcot.

The new road proposes to connect the existing A4130 at the Ladygrove/Abingdon Road junction to a new junction at Hadden Hill.

Long Wittenham to Clifton Hampden Permissive Path Opening

The new Long Wittenham to Clifton Hampden permissive path will open on Easter Saturday 19th April.

The opening ceremony will take place at midday and residents are invited to take part and walk the path afterwards.
