The Parish Council has been advised by South Oxfordshire District Council (SODC) of a new planning application within the village.

The application relates to the Vanderbilt development and includes a new access plan for the site which confirms that the re-alignment of  Didcot Road will not be necessary.

Planning Application

The Parish Council has been advised by South Oxfordshire District Council (SODC) of a new planning application within the village.

The application includes information and amendments relating to the planning application by Headington School for a boathouse at Maddy Moorings, High Street, Long Wittenham (P18/S2162/FUL) which was granted planning permission in June 2019.

Village Bonfire Night

The big event is only a week away, but it is a community effort and the organising team need you.   Please can you volunteer to help with Bonfire Night (Saturday 6th November)?

Volunteers are needed to:

  • Help build the bonfire on Saturday morning / early afternoon;
  • Be a marshall on the High Street just before the event;
  • Help clear the site on Sunday morning.

New Council Building Design Revealed

South Oxfordshire District Council (SODC) has revealed the concept design for the new district council building at Didcot Gateway that was approved at its most recent Cabinet meeting.

The new building will be home to the offices the council shares with the neighbouring Vale of White Horse District Council; the two councils work jointly across most of their services and share staff.

Voluntary and Community Groups Revenue Grants

South Oxfordshire District Council (SODC) has opened a new round of funding for the district’s voluntary sector through the Revenue Grant scheme to help cover their operational costs and future-proof their work.

Save The Date

The Parish Council has it on good authority that Father Christmas will be at The Plough Inn between 3pm and 5pm on Saturday 11th December for a ‘meet & greet’.

The bar will be open with mulled wine and mince pies, and everyone is invited to come along for some Christmas cheer.
