Annual Voter Registration

South Oxfordshire District Council is sending a ‘Canvass Communication Form’ to every home requiring the residents to check the details of everyone over the age of 16 that lives in their property.  Local authorities need to do this by law each year in order to ensure the electoral register is up to date.

Out-of-hours Highways Service

A new telephone number – 01223 849731 – has been launched for Oxfordshire residents to call for urgent, out of hours, highways related issues.

People can now report a highways matter to Oxfordshire County Council outside normal office hours – including evenings, weekends and bank holidays – if there are concerns about it causing an accident or damaging property.  The call adviser will discuss the urgency of the issue and take appropriate action Continue reading

Oxford-Cambridge Arc Consultation

People across South Oxfordshire are being urged to have their say on the Oxford-Cambridge Arc, a Government led project which will have an impact on the district in the future.

Planning Application

The Parish Council has been advised by South Oxfordshire District Council (SODC) of a new planning application within the village.

The application, at Challis Farm, High Street, Long Wittenham, is for the replacement of timber windows and doors with like for like replacement frames with slimline double glazed units.

Overweight Lorries Targetted

The Parish Council has been advised by our County Councillor, Dr Pete Sudbury, that on 20th July, officers from Trading Standards took part in joint enforcement work with Thames Valley Police’s Roads Policing Team, targetting the illegal use of the roads through Clifton Hampden and Long Wittenham by HGVs.

In total 12 vehicles over 7.5T MGW were stopped with 4 drivers being issued fixed penalties for using this road as an unlawful shortcut; 6 vehicles were making legitimate Continue reading

Oxfordshire Infrastructure Strategy Consultation

The Oxfordshire Infrastructure Strategy (OxIS) provides a framework for Oxfordshire County Council (OCC), Oxfordshire’s five planning authorities and key partners to establish strategic infrastructure investment priorities as well as potential opportunities for funding and delivery.

The stage 1 report looking at infrastructure priorities to 2040 is now being consulted upon, with Stage 2 of OxIS planned to be carried out later this year to align with the next stage of Continue reading

Disruption to Waste Collection Services

South Oxfordshire District Council (SODC) has apologised that some bins have not been emptied as expected in the past couple of weeks.  It’s waste collection services are still facing some disruptions.
