Covid-19 cases in Oxfordshire are rising rapidly and the latest figures show that South Oxfordshire has the second highest infection rate in the county.

Work on the bells restoration project at St Mary’s Church will begin later this month. Scaffolders will start work on 15th January and the bells should come down five days later. Restoring the bells and bell frame is expected to take four months. The work is being carried out by Whites of Appleton, one of the few restorers of bells in the country.

South Oxfordshire District Council (SODC) has announced that, owing to the new lockdown regulations, it has had to suspend garden waste collections and is not taking on new garden waste customers until further notice. This will enable its contractor to focus on essential services including household collections while building resilience in its workforce to allow for increased staff shortages due to illness.

Some residents may have noticed that the Little Wittenham Road junction with the High Street has been closed temporarily. This is to facilitate repairs to a water leak in the road by Thames Water.

South Oxfordshire District Council (SODC) has arranged for Christmas Trees to be collected from the grass verge next to the entrance to Bodkin’s Recreation Ground. Leave trees there by Thursday 14th January.
Residents with brown recycling bins can leave their tree next to their brown bin for collection on 15th January. Please don’t put it in the bin as it’s often difficult for the crews to get out. Continue reading
The Parish Council has been advised by the Traffic Regulations Team at Oxfordshire County Council of the closure of two sections of Sires Hill commencing on 4th February 2021.
The closure is to facilitate the installation of fibre optic cables which is anticipated to be completed by 1st April 2021.
