A reminder that this coming Sunday is Village Apple Day at the Sylva Wood Centre. Organised by Wittenham Warriors and hosted by the Sylva Foundation, it offers you the opportunity to have your home grown apples turned into delicious juice.

Residents will be aware that for over fifteen years the villagers of Long and Little Wittenham and Clifton Hampden have been providing sandwiches and cakes once a month for The Gatehouse in Oxford, a charitable organisation that provides hot drinks and food daily throughout the year for the homeless.

Long Wittenham has a new parish councillor. He is Ian Penberth who was co-opted on to the council at its meeting last Thursday. His appointment brings the number of councillors to six, one short of its maximum.

Residents will have noticed that the Vanderbilt housing site on the corner of Fieldside and Didcot Road is now ringed by steel fencing.
This has been done in anticipation of archaeological works on the site which are due to commence on 14th October. They are expected to take between eight and twelve weeks. The works are being done as part of the site preparation and have been planned, discussed and agreed with the local authority and Vanderbilt’s own consultants. Continue reading
Voluntary and community organisations are being invited to bid for portions of Oxfordshire County Council’s new £1m two-year grant fund, the Youth Opportunity Fund.
