The Parish Council has been asked by the Oxfordshire County Council Road Safety Team to encourage parents and carers in the village to use the Footsteps programme.
The programme shows parents and carers how to support their children in learning how to make safer decisions when they are crossing roads. With support from parents and carers, children will gain the skills needed to become safer, independent pedestrians and so help to reduce casualty numbers on our roads. Continue reading

It’s only a little over a month to the Village Bonfire Night (Saturday 2nd November, 6pm on Ward’s Field) and the organisers are in need of volunteers to help with the event.
No previous experience is necessary, but a smile, sense of humour and can-do attitude is required! Volunteers are needed to collect wood, build the bonfire, set up stalls, work on the stalls, manage car parking, be traffic/pedestrian marshalls, clear the site and return borrowed goods, and manage the PA system. The Parish Council has a new clerk. He is Martin Elliff who takes over from Rhonda Hinson who was clerk for more than four years.
Martin was the council’s vice-chairman and his decision to resign as councillor and take on the new role as clerk on a voluntary basis for twelve months means that the council is now down to five councillors – two short of its statutory number.

About forty residents gathered on the warm, sunny afternoon of Tuesday 27th August for the annual Long Wittenham Lunch Club tea party.
Members of the club usually meet on the third Thursday of each month for lunch in the village hall but once a year, Bill and Sylvia Harrison host this much anticipated event in their beautiful garden.
