DIY Waste Disposal Changes

Oxfordshire residents can now dispose of limited amounts of DIY waste for free at the county’s household waste recycling centres (HWRCs) by using an online booking system.

Residents can dispose of up to five standard DIY items for free, or one plasterboard sheet, once every seven days.  Examples of DIY waste include baths, sinks, toilets, cisterns, and a 20 litre bag of rubble or tiles.  Five of these items would make Continue reading

Beware Unwanted Callers

Residents should be aware that the Parish Council has received a report of an unexpected late night caller on an elderly resident.

The resident did not know the caller and fortunately did not allow him into her home.  The council advises residents to be very cautious with any unexpected callers, particularly if it is late in the evening.

Candles for Ukraine

I am collecting candle stubs or unwanted candles for Ukraine.  A group of Ukrainian people around the area remake them into lights.

People in Ukraine are having to use candles as there are constant power cuts.  As we all know, they are having a really rough time so any small thing we can do helps.

Pendon Museum Pop-up Café

The pop-up café at Pendon Museum will be open again on Wednesday 10th January from 10am to 12noon.

This is a free drop-in event, with just a small charge for drinks and cake to cover the costs.  All donations from the cakes go to support a local group, so please go along and support it if you can.

Road to Clifton Hampden Closed

Further to yesterday’s post about flooding on the road to Clifton Hampden, the road has now been closed.

The Met Office has issued a weather warning for rain across southern England, including the whole of Oxfordshire, over the next few days.

Road to Clifton Hampden Flooded

The Parish Council has been advised that the road to Clifton Hampden is flooded.  This is due to very heavy rain over the last week or two which has led to high river levels in Oxfordshire.

Motorists are advised not to attempt to drive through floodwater as they run the risk of becoming stranded.

OCC Budget Consultation

On 20th February, Oxfordshire County Council (OCC) will meet to agree its budget for the next financial year (2024-25).

Every year, the council asks for residents’ views and this year there is a new way to tell it what is important to you, by using its online budget simulator.

Christmas Tree Recycling

As in previous years, South Oxfordshire District Council (SODC) has arranged for Christmas trees to be collected from the grass verge next to the entrance to Bodkin’s Recreation Ground.

Leave trees there by Friday 12th January – they will be collected on Saturday 13th January.
