Archaeology Festival of Discovery 2024

Earth Trust is hosting the Archaeology Festival of Discovery on Saturday 17th and Sunday 18th February 2024 between 9:30am and 5pm.

When archaeologists from DigVentures began excavating at Earth Trust, it led to the discovery of a previously unknown Roman villa and a vast Iron Age settlement. Continue reading

Joint Local Plan Consultation

South Oxfordshire District Council (SODC) is inviting residents to comment as it works towards the Joint Local Plan 2041.

Using feedback from its first Joint Local Plan consultation in 2022 and a range of new research, it has drawn up different options and drafted new planning policies that help address the climate emergency, protect and restore nature, and meet the needs of residents. Continue reading

DIY Waste Disposal Changes

Oxfordshire residents can now dispose of limited amounts of DIY waste for free at the county’s household waste recycling centres (HWRCs) by using an online booking system.

Residents can dispose of up to five standard DIY items for free, or one plasterboard sheet, once every seven days.  Examples of DIY waste include baths, sinks, toilets, cisterns, and a 20 litre bag of rubble or tiles.  Five of these items would make Continue reading

Beware Unwanted Callers

Residents should be aware that the Parish Council has received a report of an unexpected late night caller on an elderly resident.

The resident did not know the caller and fortunately did not allow him into her home.  The council advises residents to be very cautious with any unexpected callers, particularly if it is late in the evening.

Candles for Ukraine

I am collecting candle stubs or unwanted candles for Ukraine.  A group of Ukrainian people around the area remake them into lights.

People in Ukraine are having to use candles as there are constant power cuts.  As we all know, they are having a really rough time so any small thing we can do helps.
