Apple Day 2023

After a hiatus of four years, residents will be pleased to hear that there will be a Village Apple Day this year.

Organised by Wittenham Warriors and hosted by the Sylva Wood Centre, it will take place on Sunday 15th October.

The charity Medicalert has asked the Parish Council to promote a new initiative that can make a difference to people living with dementia and Alzheimer’s.

The MedicAlert Foundation, in partnership with Thames Valley Police, has launched a dementia safeguarding programme, Safe and Found.

Planning Application

The Parish Council has been advised by South Oxfordshire District Council (SODC) of a new planning application within the village.

The application, at Briarwood, Northfield Lane, Long Wittenham, is for the relocation of a window to rear elevation, replacement of garage doors and internal reconfigurations.

Please Water The Trees

Parish Councillor Steve Bolton has asked if residents who live near the new trees that were planted in the village a few months ago could put a bucket of water on them during this warm and dry weather.

The trees are located on Saxons Heath Green, the entrance to Saxons Heath and on the Didcot Road near the traffic calming build-out.

Village Litter Pick – Saturday 21st October 10am to Noon

Make Long Wittenham a village to be proud of!

Come along to the Village Hall on Saturday 21st October between 10am and noon where you will be provided with Hi-Viz jackets, gloves, rubbish bags and a litter picking tool.

Bus Service Update

Going Forward Buses, the company that provides the Monday and Wednesday D1 bus service between Wallingford and Didcot, calling at Long Wittenham, has announced minor timing changes aimed at improving punctuality.
