The charity Medicalert has asked the Parish Council to promote a new initiative that can make a difference to people living with dementia and Alzheimer’s.
The MedicAlert Foundation, in partnership with Thames Valley Police, has launched a dementia safeguarding programme, Safe and Found.
In the UK, there are 944,000 people currently living with dementia, and, distressingly, six out of ten will be reported missing at least once.
The Herbert Protocol, a proven search strategy, helps police to find missing individuals. By completing the protocol and storing it with MedicAlert, vital information and insight on the individuals habits, places of interest, networks and more is available to guide the police’s search efforts. This innovative solution allows police access when every moment counts, removing previously-experienced delays that have risked lives.
