Football Pitch Out of Bounds

Please note that the football pitch at Bodkins will be out of bounds as of next week.

It will be sprayed and seeded, and roped off.

It will be out of use for a couple of months while the seed grows, but there will be plenty of room around the sides for children to play.

Oxfordshire Tops Recycling Table

For the ninth year in a row, residents in Oxfordshire have topped the table nationally when it comes to recycling, reusing and composting.

Oxfordshire County Council (OCC) has again been named the best performing county council waste disposal authority in England.  In 2021-22, residents recycled, reused or composted 58.2% of their household waste, according to the latest government figures. Continue reading

Recycling Centres Survey

Oxfordshire County Council (OCC) has seven Household Waste Recycling Centres (HWRCs).  These centres are very popular, with around one million visits every year.  They take in 40,000 – 45,000 tonnes of waste each year, and 65.5% of this waste is recycled.

OCC has developed a plan called the HWRC Strategy that will help it to better manage waste for the next twenty years.  The goal is to fix and reuse more of the Continue reading

Local Elections Voter ID

Residents are reminded that local elections will take place on 4th May, and to vote at a polling station you must take valid photo ID with you.

This is a new requirement introduced by the UK Government.  If you do not have the accepted photo ID, you need to apply for a Voter Authority Certificate which is free of charge. Continue reading

Planning Application

The Parish Council has been advised by South Oxfordshire District Council (SODC) of a new planning application within the village.

The application, at 37, Wessex Way, Long Wittenham, is to erect a studio building in the rear garden.

DIY Waste Charges to Increase

The cost of getting rid of non-household (DIY) waste at Oxfordshire Recycling Centres will change from Saturday 1st April.

All items currently charged at £1.50 will now cost £2.  This covers most waste generated through home and garden renovations, including loft insultation, guttering, decking and fitted furniture. Continue reading
