Road to Clifton Hampden Roadworks 23rd to 27th March

It has come to the Parish Council’s attention that roadworks are scheduled to take place on the road out of the village towards Clifton Hampden between 23rd and 27th March.

Notice of Elections

Parish Council and District Council elections will take place in South Oxfordshire on Thursday 4th May 2023.

Nomination papers for these elections must be submitted to the Returning Officer at the South Oxfordshire District Council offices, Abbey House, Abbey Close, Abingdon by Tuesday 4th April 2023.

Village Map Update

The Village Map, a copy of which hangs outside the Village Hall, was originally produced in 2012 and last updated in 2020.

With the completion of Wessex Way, the Parish Council wants to update the map and print a new one.

Thames Footbridge Closed

The Parish Council has been advised by our footpath warden that the footbridge over the Thames from Little Wittenham near Days Lock has been closed due to emergency repairs.

It is expected to reopen by 6th April latest.

The Parish Council is keen to acknowledge residents who quietly ‘just get on with’ something, spending their spare time doing things for the village without asking for payment or recognition.

Village Meeting to View Community Hub Final Plans

All residents are invited to a meeting in the Village Hall on Wednesday 22nd March at 7:30pm.

Thomas Homes, the developer for the Community Hub, will present the final plans for the new village hall, school, pre-school and houses prior to submitting a planning application.

Abingdon Road Closure 27th to 31st March

The Parish Council has been advised by the Network Management team at Oxfordshire County Council (OCC) that there will be a temporary road closure of the A415 Abingdon Road at Culham.

The closure is to facilitate carriageway patching works and will operate from 27th March to 31st March 2023 between 8pm and 6am.  See the Traffic Regulation Notice below. Continue reading

Recycling Centres – Temporary Closures

Residents planning to use Oxfordshire’s household waste recycling centres are warned of a series of short closures to enable essential work to be carried out.
