Valentine’s Disco (5s and Under)

The village pre-school is holding a Valentine’s Disco for the 5s and under in the village hall on Friday 10th February between 3:15pm and 4:30pm.

There will be valentine snacks, party games, face painting, tattoos and party bags.

Planning Application

The Parish Council has been advised by South Oxfordshire District Council (SODC) of a new planning application within the village.

The application, at Sadlers Barn, High Street, Long Wittenham, is for a Certificate of Lawfulness for the existing use of the land to the rear of the dwelling as a residential garden.

Please Dispose of Dog Waste Responsibly

The Parish Council has had reports of bags of dog waste being thrown into gardens.

Residents are reminded that dog waste should be disposed of responsibly.  There are numerous litter bins around the village, all of which can be used.  If a public bin is full, please take the waste home and dispose of it in your own bin.

Junction of Didcot Road and Sires Hill 1st to 3rd February

It has come to the Parish Council’s attention that utility repair and maintenance work has been scheduled to take place at the junction of Didcot Road and Sires Hill between 1st and 3rd February.

The work will be carried out by Thames Water.  There will be multi-way traffic signals, so delays are possible.

Overgrown Hedges and Blocked Footways

The Parish Council has recently received several complaints that some hedges in the village have been allowed to grow over the footways reducing the width to walk along.

Bus Service Update

Going Forward Buses, the company that provides the Monday and Wednesday bus service through the village, has advised the Parish Council that due to sudden driver illness it may need to reduce its services.

It hopes to cover all routes this week (23rd-27th January) but from Monday 30th January it is likely that it will only be able to run one bus.  For logistical reasons this may mean that Continue reading
