Hallowe’en usually means lots of leftover pumpkins at the start of November. South Oxfordshire District Council (SODC) has announced that any pumpkins that can’t be used in cooking or composting will be collected by the bin crews if left next to the food waste bin on the appropriate collection day.
The pumpkins, like other food waste recycling, will be taken to a processing centre in Oxfordshire where they will be transformed into fertiliser and green electricity.
Food waste recycling is a free service from SODC. Residents who have not already received an outside food waste bin should contact their waste contractor Biffa on 03000 610610.
