Pub Fights Virus

As a response to the Coronavirus, The Plough Inn is offering a takeaway and delivery service for a limited menu.  In the meantime, The Plough remains open.

Landlord Liam Carberry said: “These are difficult times for everyone including small businesses like ourselves.  We would like to thank our customers who have sent us message of support and especially those people who visit The Plough to support us.”

Mr Carberry said all staff are being fastidious with cleaning and customers are being asked to use hand sanitizers on entering the pub.  He said The Plough was “whole heartedly” committed to supporting the community and decided to offer a new take away and delivery service.

Takeaway is available to all and the delivery service will be limited to people at risk, the over 70s and people with existing illnesses for the time being.  Orders can be taken between 12noon and 2pm and between 6pm and 8pm.  The Plough is also offering a “beer to go” takeaway service if customers bring a container for draught beer at £3.50 a pint.  Bottled beer is available at the same price.  Orders for food and drink can be placed by telephoning 01865 407738.

The government has unveiled a package of measures to help businesses during the crisis.  Planning rules are to be relaxed to make it easier for pubs and restaurants to switch to takeaway services.  Other measures to ease the burden on small businesses include cash grants of £25,000 to help cover costs such as rents.  Business rates will be scrapped for pubs, restaurants, theatres and cinemas.

The chairman of the Parish Council Gordon Rogers praised the efforts of The Plough to adapt to changing circumstances.  He said: “The pub plays a vital role in community life and deserves support if it is to weather the current pandemic storm.  Without The Plough the village would be a much poorer place.  It’s as important as the school and church and helps support the elderly and lonely.”

    Hi folks
From the email from the Plough earlier, I thought takeaway was for all but delivery was for “at risk” people only?

Don’t want to limit trade for the Plough – or have I got the wrong end of the stick?
    Thanks!
    Hugh

Yes, takeaway for all, delivery at the moment for ‘at risk’ people only. If in doubt ring The Plough on 01865 407738.

Thank you. The Plough is very much at the centre of activity in the community. Wishing good luck and support from the Tucker household.
