SODC Announces Five Year Housing Supply

South Oxfordshire District Council has published its latest figures showing that it can now demonstrate a five-year housing land supply.

This is important because if a local planning authority cannot show that it has a five-year housing land supply, its policies with regards to residential development are regarded as out-of-date.  Where this happens, the National Planning Policy Framework (NPPF) sets out a ‘presumption in favour of sustainable development’.

This is significant news for small villages such as Long Wittenham and should make a huge difference in our ability to fight off unwanted development.  Had there been a five year housing supply in place last November, it would have been more likely that we would have defeated the Kler appeal.
