The campaign for a footpath linking the two villages continues but the prospect of a new path along the main road looks increasingly unlikely.
With county council cash at a premium and the need to secure agreement with landowners this expensive option has faded leaving a cheaper and more realistic proposal – a link to the Thames Path towards Clifton via the weir. The council is to pursue inquiries with landowners and the Environment Agency about rights of way at the side of fields and over the weir.
