The Parish Council is being loaned a thermal imaging camera by South Oxfordshire District Council from 6th December 2023 to 4th January 2024.
Any resident who would like a free external thermal imaging check of their property during the loan period should contact Cllr Mark Thompson at mark.thompson@longwittenham.com.
The thermal imaging check is not a professional survey, but is intended to identify any shortcomings in the insulation of a property, with the aim of suggesting where improvements could be made. Details of grants for eligible properties can also be provided.
To produce meaningful results the checks can only be carried out when:
- The weather is cold, 5 degrees or below, and not raining.
- 3 hours after the sun has gone down, effectively this means between 7-9pm
- The central heating in the property is on and set to a minimum of 19 degrees.
These factors will limit the number of checks that can be carried out and therefore they will be offered on a first come, first served basis.
