Lane Rental Scheme Proposal Consultation

Oxfordshire County Council (OCC) would like to hear the views of residents about a Lane Rental Scheme it is proposing to introduce on some of Oxfordshire’s busiest roads.

When companies dig up busy roads, it can cause disruption to road users.  OCC is proposing to introduce a scheme whereby companies are charged for works that are undertaken during peak periods.

It is hoped that this will drive behavioural change in those working in the street, so less works are done at busy times or the works are done in a different way, minimising the disruption the works cause to everyone using or relying on the streets.

Details of the scheme and the opportunity to comment on it are on the OCC Let’s Talk website.

The consultation is open until 26th January 2024.

Let’s hope that Companies work together so if gas work or electric or water needed they and the Council work together so roads are not constantly dug up . When they are any pot holes in the area they should be filled when trenches refilled etc . This makes sense and should keep down costs
But this never seems to happen . There seems to be a lack of common sense. More talking between departments needed
