Dog Club Update

Many people have helped make the Long Wittenham Dog Club a success, including the organisers, and all those people who have attended one or more of the club sessions.  Membership currently stands at around forty.

Civil Parking Enforcement

Oxfordshire County Council (OCC) has asked the Parish Council to pass on the following information to residents.

The Civil Parking Enforcement (CPE) project, being jointly undertaken between OCC, South Oxfordshire District Council, Vale of White Horse District Council and Cherwell District Council will ‘go live’ on 1st November 2021.

Horse Rider Safety Campaign

Drivers are being encouraged to stay alert for horse riders using the county’s roads, in a joint safety campaign from Oxfordshire County Council’s Fire and Rescue Service, and the British Horse Society (BHS).

‘Pass slow and wide’ warning signs will be positioned at hotspots used regularly by equestrians, where there is a record of reported incidents involving horse riders and road traffic.  The signs will be erected on either a temporary basis for major Continue reading

Planning Application

The Parish Council has been advised by South Oxfordshire District Council (SODC) of a new planning application within the village.

The application, at Mouldens, High Street, Long Wittenham, is for proposed amendments to roof form, detailing, colour and roof profile of the garage/outbuilding, to bring it in line with the original application P17/S3383/HH.

Enrych Oxfordshire

The Parish Council has been asked to promote the charity Enrych Oxfordshire which supports adults with physical disabilities to escape isolation and loneliness, by taking part in leisure and learning activities through our volunteer befriending service.

Bus Services Survey

Earlier this year, the Government published a new National Bus Strategy which sets out a framework for how bus services can recover from the Covid-19 pandemic, with a vision for future improvements to bus provision.

Bus Service Changes

Going Forward Buses has announced some changes to its once a week D1 service on Mondays between Wallingford and Didcot, which calls at Long Wittenham.  The changes will take effect from Monday 6th September 2021.

The service will be revised to run 15 minutes earlier from Wallingford to Didcot, and 15 minutes later from Didcot back to Wallingford.  There will also be a new return journey from Didcot to Wallingford and back using the same route, giving one hour in Continue reading
