The Parish Council has been advised by South Oxfordshire District Council (SODC) of a new planning application within the village.

The application is for a Certificate of Lawful Development for residential ancillary accommodation at The Little House, High Street, Long Wittenham.

Clifton Hampden Bridge Open

Clifton Hampden Bridge has re-opened to traffic after weeks of closure following work on strengthening part of the river bank and removing vegetation.  The bridge re-opened yesterday (Thursday 1st April), earlier than scheduled.

Going Forward buses will resume its Monday service to shops at Didcot, and Thames Travel has re-started services from Didcot to the Culham Science Centre and Berinsfield. Continue reading

Village Hall 200 Club Prize Draw

The Village Hall 200 Club is a long-standing feature of village life.  In the 2019-20 year, 139 members funded £780 in prizes leaving a balance of over £900 to go towards the maintenance and improvement of the hall.

Parish Sounding Board

The Didcot Garden Town (DGT) project does not have money to support plans for a cycle path linking the village to the Barley Mow car park.  That was made clear at a recent meeting of the DGT Parish Sounding Board which comprises Didcot and parish councillors from local villages whose areas fall within the DGT area of influence.

20mph Zone Working Group Report

The need for traffic speed reduction measures along Didcot Road were emphasised by Ron Carter at the fourth meeting to discuss plans for the introduction of a 20mph speed zone through the village.

Mr Carter, who lives in Didcot Road, said traffic travelled too fast in both directions.  Other speed reduction measures are needed if 20mph is to be successful.  The meeting discussed the village conservation area, implemented in Continue reading

Vanderbilt Homes Amendments

Vanderbilt Homes has submitted more amendments to its planning application for the housing development on the corner of Fieldside and Didcot Road.

These amendments are ‘discharge of conditions’ which means they deal with the conditions specified by the planning inspector when the outline planning permission was granted for the site in January 2018. Continue reading
