Recycling Centres News

Residents are being urged not to use Oxfordshire’s household waste and recycling centres (HWRCs) over the traditionally busy Easter holiday period, if they can avoid doing so.

From Friday 26th March, traffic control measures will be introduced at four of the county’s seven HWRCs  for a three-week period, and centres will be closed early or for short periods in the day if queues start affecting surrounding roads.  Late-night opening on Thursdays is also being reintroduced from 1st Continue reading

TalkingSpace Plus

The Oxford Health NHS Foundation Trust has asked the Parish Council to make residents aware of TalkingSpace Plus.

TalkingSpace Plus is a free NHS service delivering talking therapies to anyone aged eighteen and over, and living in the local area, who is finding it hard coping with low mood, stress and worry. Continue reading

Bells Returned to St Mary’s

The project to restore and retune the bells at St Mary’s Church is nearing completion, with the bells returned to the church from the restorers yesterday (22nd March) – see the photograph below.

There will be a short service for the blessing of the bells on Thursday 25th March with only a small number of people attending owing to Covid restrictions. Continue reading

Litter Pickers Back in Action

Fifteen bags of rubbish were collected recently from roadsides in the village by a team of litter pickers organised by the Parish Council in conjunction with the South and Vale District Councils’ Waste and Recycling team.

Expressway Plans Scrapped

The Government has anounced that plans for the Oxford to Cambridge Expressway have been scrapped, as it was deemed to “not be cost-effective for the taxpayer”.

The Department for Transport (DfT) said the decision was made after “extensive analysis” of the scheme, which was paused in March 2020.

May Local Elections

South Oxfordshire District Council (SODC) needs volunteers to take on paid work at the local elections on 6th May.  All residents in Oxfordshire will be voting for the Police & Crime Commissioner and county councillors, and some areas may have a by-election or a Neighbourhood Plan referendum.

There are many roles available.  Plans are being put in place to ensure all staff can work in a Covid-19 safe environment.  Electoral organisers expect a big increase in postal votes. Continue reading
