High Street Closure

As if the confusion over the Lady Grove closure was not enough, the Parish Council has just been informed by Network Management at Oxfordshire County Council (OCC) of a temporary emergency road closure on the High Street whilst urgent works to restore customer service works are carried out for public safety reasons.

Lady Grove Closure Update

Many residents will be aware that The B4016 Lady Grove was not closed yesterday as had been expected.  The Parish Council contacted the contractors and has received the following email:

New Associate Team Vicar Appointed

It has been announced that the Bishop of Dorchester and the Team Rector will appoint the Revd Paul Wignall as Associate Team Vicar for the Bridge Group of Parishes.

Electricity Outages – Update

Following the recent power outages, the Parish Council has been in communication with Scottish and Southern Electricity Networks (SSEN), which maintains the network in our area.  The council has been advised that, currently, the supply to the village is isolated from the main network and the fault, and there are generators in place.

Vanderbilt Homes Consultation Deadline

The consultation on Vanderbilt Homes’ latest set of amendments (dated 24th July) to its planning application for the housing development on the corner of Fieldside and Didcot Road ends tomorrow (Friday 14th August).

SODC Local Plan Update

It looks as if the end of the road is in sight for South Oxfordshire District Council’s (SODC) re-drawn Local Plan which has been at the centre of controversy with the Housing Secretary Robert Jenrick.

High Street Temporary Closure

The Parish Council was informed today of a temporary emergency road closure on the High Street whilst Openreach customer reconnection works are carried out for public safety reasons.  The off peak closure and will operate from 10th to 14th August 2020.

Access will be maintained for emergency service vehicles and for those frontages within the closure area, subject to the progress of the works and liaison with the works supervisor. Continue reading
