Hills Quarry Products have removed the concrete processing plant from its plans for a huge quarry near Clifton Hampden, but anti-quarry campaigners say they are not convinced and that Hills could re-instate the concrete plant at a later date if given planning permission.
Bachport (Burcot and Clifton Hampden Protection of the River Thames) spokesman Giles Baxter said: “Although Hills has removed the concrete plant, the fact that the proposed area for the plant site remains on the plans suggests that the company will seek to reinstate the plant at some point in the future under permitted development rights. In other words this is a purely tactical move by Hills.”

The public enquiry into Kler Group’s planning application for 36 houses on the field at the corner of the Didcot Road and Fieldside will open in Didcot on 14th November. Four days have been set aside for the enquiry at the Civic Hall.

South Oxfordshire District Council has published the latest version of its Local Plan and is inviting residents to read it and send their comments in before 22nd November.
The comments will then be submitted along with the plan to the government, ready to be examined by a planning inspector early next year.
During the development of the plan, the council has received thousands of comments from residents and organisations, which have helped shaped the plan.

Don’t forget that Clifton Hampden Bridge will close to traffic from tomorrow, Monday 9th October, for up to ten days.
This is for repair work that is required following a road traffic accident last year that demolished a length of brick parapet.
The road closure is needed to undertake the work required as the bridge is too narrow to work safely without one. A route will be available for cyclists and pedestrians throughout the works.
The signed vehicular diversion route is approximately 8.5 miles. The diversion route plan can be downloaded here.
