Rogue Speeders

Several residents have recently been in touch with the village Community Speedwatch team, raising concerns about vehicles travelling at dangerous speeds, considerably faster than the 20mph limit, along some of the streets away from the main road through the village.

Fun Run Report

One hundred and eighty-three competitors, including fifty-nine children, took part in the thirteenth Long Wittenham Fun Run last Sunday (28th April), raising money for a variety of village causes.  The youngest participant was four years old and there was a dozen in the new over 65s category.

The course had to be altered because of the amount of rain that has fallen in recent weeks, but it meant the participants were able to take in some new sights around Neptune Wood. Continue reading

Oxfordshire Artweeks

The annual Oxfordshire Artweeks kicks off on 4th May and runs until 27th May.

Telephones in Power Cuts

Residents may be aware that phone providers are in the process of switching their landline phones over to a system that uses the Internet; indeed some providers have already done so.

Dog Fouling

The Parish Council has had reports of dog poo left at Bodkins Playground on at least two occasions.

Dog owners should always clear up after their dogs, but it is particularly inconsiderate to allow dogs to foul playgrounds as it is dangerous to children.

Community Hub Update

The Parish Council has now received the report from the South Oxfordshire District Council (SODC) planning officer on the planning application for the Community Hub.

The report recommends approval of the plans subject to the completion of a Section 106 agreement, which will cover all the technicalities of the development. Continue reading
