The Parish Council has been advised by South Oxfordshire District Council (SODC) of a new planning application within the village.

The application, at The Little House, High Street, Long Wittenham, is for the demolition of the existing barn and erection of a new barn in the same field.

Can You Make a Poppy?

To commemorate Remembrance Day, the Wittenham WI wants to decorate the bus shelter on the High Street with as many poppies as possible.

New Management at The Barley Mow

There are new managers at The Barley Mow in Clifton Hampden.  They are Daniel and Fiona Hannant who have taken over from Chris and Andrea Long who left after seven years at the pub.

Daniel and Fiona have worked together for the last five years in pubs in Somerset and Reading, and a restaurant in Abingdon.

Before that, Daniel was a chef in Poland and Fiona was in the police force for seventeen years.

Check It Before You Chuck It

South Oxfordshire District Council (SODC) is urging residents to ‘Check it before you chuck it’ as part of a drive to increase the amount and quality of recycling in the district.

An estimated 3,340 tonnes of items that residents put in their recycling bins during 2022/23 were not actually recyclable.  That is 11% of all the contents of our green bins for the whole year. Continue reading

Moonrakers at St Mary’s

Following the success of their concert at St Mary’s Church in November 2020, and by popular demand, the Celtic music group Moonrakers will be performing again on Saturday 21st October starting at 7:30pm.

Wittenham Singers Reform

The Wittenham Singers are reforming under the stewardship of Andy Thomas in preparation for the 2023 Christmas season.
