Catherine Harrison, Chair of the Governors of Long Wittenham Primary School, writes …
Long Wittenham Primary School is delighted to announce that we are now officially part of the Ridgeway Education Trust (RET).
On 1st November, the Trust CEO, Rachael Warwick, Director of Primary, Paul Shaughnessy and Chair of the RET board, Ruth Elliot, joined the children for a special assembly with celebratory cupcakes handed out to everyone.
The Trust has been working with us closely since the start of the year and we are thrilled to share some of the progress over this past term. The children in years 3-6 have been delighted to receive brand-new keyboards and now benefit from the expertise of our specialist music teacher once a week. Also, thanks to our dedicated specialist French teacher, the children in years 5 and 6 are making great strides in their French language skills.
Being part of the RET family of schools has also brought more opportunity for us to do things together and our Year 2 children were treated to a special visit to All Saints School where they met the renowned author Sophie Kirtly, celebrated for her works “The Wild Way Home “ and “The Way to Impossible Island”, and listened to her read.
We look forward to sharing more developments very soon.
It all sounds very positive and I wish the school every success.
