The Wittenham WI recently had a speaker from Oxfordshire Trading Standards who talked about various forms of scams and fraud.

It has been suggested that the handout given out by the speaker might be of interest to residents.

Green Infrastructure and Open Space Consultation

LUC, the environmental consultancy, has been appointed by South Oxfordshire District Council and Vale of White Horse District Councils to prepare an updated Green Infrastructure Strategy and Open Space Study to support preparation of the Joint Local Plan.

Asian Hornets

The Government is urging UK beekeepers and the public to be vigilant to the presence of Asian Hornets and report any sightings.

The Asian hornet is smaller than our native hornet and poses no greater risk to human health than our native wasps and hornets, but they do pose a risk to honey bees and insect pollinators.

Everyone Active Grant Scheme

A new round of the Everyone Active grant scheme has opened.

The grant scheme, run by South Oxfordshire District Council (SODC), aims to help fund projects that help communities become more active and sustain activity.

SODC is providing £50,000 in funding for community organisations to apply for, with a maximum grant of £1,000. Continue reading

Beat The Heat

The Parish Council has been asked by Oxfordshire County Council (OCC) to pass on this message to residents.

Stay safe in the heat this summer.  Due to climate change, temperatures are increasing in Oxfordshire and elsewhere with more dry, hot weather and heatwaves.  In the summer of 2022, sixty-five excess deaths occurred in Oxfordshire during periods of higher temperatures. Continue reading
