Didcot Road Traffic Calming Revised Plan Consultation

Residents will remember that in January 2020, Oxfordshire County Council (OCC) Highways consulted on plans to install a new zebra crossing and to move the pinch-point traffic calming feature on Didcot Road to facilitate the Vanderbilt housing development.

Planning Application

The Parish Council has been advised by South Oxfordshire District Council (SODC) of a new planning application within the village.

The application at East Cottage, High Street, Long Wittenham, is for the demolition of the existing garage, and a proposed garden outbuilding.

Abingdon Road, Clifton Hampden

Residents driving to Clifton Hampden and beyond should be aware that there are roadworks on Abingdon Road.  As these block one side of the road (opposite the Village Hall), the contractor has installed temporary four-way traffic lights.

The lights are causing delays, even at quieter times of the day.  You are advised to allow extra time for your journeys. Continue reading

Didcot Road 19th April

Village Pubs Reopen

The village pubs, which have been closed since December, reopened for outdoor customers on Monday 12th April.  Indoor openings will have to wait until 17th May.

At The Plough Inn customers can order drinks and food outdoors in the garden.  Food is served at between 12noon and 3pm and 6pm and 9pm, and on Sundays between 12noon and 3pm.  The Plough has heaters under its pergola on the patio Continue reading

Vanderbilt Homes Update

Vanderbilt Homes has submitted a further planning application for its housing development on the corner of Fieldside and Didcot Road.

This is another ‘discharge of conditions’, which means that it deals with the conditions specified by the planning inspector when the outline planning permission was granted for the site in January 2018.
