The Wittenhams Community Orchard will be opened by Sarah Taylor, High Sherriff of Oxfordshire on Thursday 23rd March at 2pm.
An open invitation is extended to everyone in the local community. Cropsharers, funders and our supporters have been invited. All children from Long Wittenham Primary School will be present and hopefully many parents too.
Having conducted the opening Mrs Taylor wants to meet those involved in its creation, planting and support, and to learn more about what the orchard means to local people. Continue reading

Plans for the expansion of the Sylva Foundation Centre in Long Wittenham have been lodged with South Oxfordshire District Council.
The Environment Agency is working with a range of local partners including the county and district councils to reduce flood risk in Oxford. This partnership was formed in 2014, after the city had been affected by flooding for many years. The scheme has been developed using evidence about past floods and modelling and exploring various options to come up with the best solution to reduce the impact of flooding in Oxford.
The Parish Council will hold its monthly meeting this coming Thursday evening (9th March) at 7:30pm in the Village Hall.
The second consultation period for the Neighbourhood Plan ended on 16th February 2017 and following minor amendments, the final Plan has been submitted to South Oxfordshire District Council for them to to begin their public consultation which is expected to last for 6 weeks.
