Poppy Appeal 2023

The village poppy appeal volunteers will be visiting all parts of the village over the coming days until Remembrance Sunday (12th November).

This year, residents have the option to pay online via a QR code that can be scanned when the poppy seller comes.  Paying with cash is still an option.  The poppy sellers don’t just sell poppies – there are other products available. Continue reading

Spooktacular Stories

Like to quiver in your boots?  On Saturday 28th of October, Pendon Museum will have a guest storyteller in to regale visitors with spooky stories.

Aimed at children aged between five and nine, stories will be told between 11am and 4pm and trains will be running as usual.

Litter Picked!

Well done to everyone who turned out for the Village Litter Pick last Saturday (21st October) morning.

Lots of regulars came along, together with some new faces.

It was a productive morning, with over thirty sacks of rubbish collected.  A delicious lemon drizzle cake with tea and coffee was enjoyed afterwards. Continue reading

Bodkins Playground

Visitors to Bodkins Playground will notice some minor changes to some of the equipment.

The Parish Council arranges for RoSPA (Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents) to carry out an inspection of the equipment at the three main play areas in the village each year.

Manor Railway Bridge Didcot

The Parish Council has been asked to advise residents that Oxfordshire County Council (OCC) will be carrying out extensive refurbishment work on Manor Railway Bridge (A4130) in Didcot.

The proposed work includes repairs to the concrete bridge deck, installation of new waterproofing to the bridge deck and resurfacing of the carriageway. Continue reading

Apple Day Report

After a hiatus of four years, the fifth Village Apple Day took place yesterday (15th October), organised by Wittenham Warriors and hosted by the Sylva Wood Centre.

The weather could not have been kinder with sunshine for the whole day.  More than two dozen people turned out to help, and many more donated cakes to keep the workers going. Continue reading

Speed Survey Results

Oxfordshire County Council (OCC) has sent the results of the recent speed survey on the Didcot Road to the Parish Council – see below.

The results are shown along with the data from the survey done in 2021 before the implementation of the 20mph speed limit and the relocation of the traffic calming build-out.
