Revised Focus for Didcot Garden Town

Revised plans to help improve the lives of residents living in and around Didcot Garden Town have been approved at two Cabinet meetings.

Didcot Road Closure 19th to 21st July

The Parish Council has received the official notification of the closure of Didcot Road from Tuesday 19th to Thursday 21st July to faciliate the works needed by Elivia Homes for its housing development.  This is a night closure each day from 9pm to 5am.

Access will be maintained for emergency service vehicles and for those frontages within the closure area, subject to the progress of the works and liaison with the works supervisor. Continue reading

Planning Application

The Parish Council has been advised by South Oxfordshire District Council (SODC) of a new planning application within the village.

The application, at The Little House, High Street, Long Wittenham, is for part retrospective consent for the reconfiguration and addition of four openings on the east elevation, the addition of roller doors and a new window on the north elevation and the creation of an elevated platform and attendant french door along with privacy screen to the south elevation. Sunday Family Funday

The village Pre-School will be hosting a Family Funday at the Athletics Club at Bodkins on Sunday 17th July between 2pm and 5pm.

Didcot Road Traffic Calming

Elivia Homes (formerly Vanderbilt) has advised the Parish Council that the work to re-instate the traffic calming build out on Didcot Road will start on Monday 27th June.  It is scheduled to take five days finishing on Friday 1st July.  The work will be done under traffic lights control during the day.

HIF1 Infrastructure Project Approved

Oxfordshire County Council’s cabinet has given the go-ahead for the next phase of the HIF1 Didcot and surrounding areas major infrastructure project with a revised deal with Government.  The project includes the new Didcot to Culham river crossing.

Approval at the county council’s cabinet meeting on 21st June follows its agreement in February to allocate additional funding to the project as part of its budget setting process.  This funding will be combined with further investment from Homes Continue reading
