Weather Warning

Scottish and Southern Electricity Networks (SSEN) has advised the Parish Council that it has moved to Yellow Alert status ahead of Storm Ciarán.

The storm is due to hit central southern England overnight on Wednesday and continue into Thursday, leading to several hours of strong winds, heavy rain and a risk of localised flooding. Continue reading

Lane Rental Scheme Proposal Consultation

Oxfordshire County Council (OCC) would like to hear the views of residents about a Lane Rental Scheme it is proposing to introduce on some of Oxfordshire’s busiest roads.

When companies dig up busy roads, it can cause disruption to road users.  OCC is proposing to introduce a scheme whereby companies are charged for works that are undertaken during peak periods. Continue reading

Winter Hub

Age UK Oxfordshire has asked the Parish Council to let residents know about its Winter Hub.

Winter can be tough at any age, but it is particularly challenging for older people who face additional health risks, and increased feelings of loneliness and isolation.  In addition, the cost-of-living crisis with rises in food and energy prices, is causing many local older people to worry about staying healthy and keeping their homes warm. Extra Garden Waste Collection

Residents who are signed up for brown bin collections can put out twice as much garden waste on Friday 3rd November.

South Oxfordshire District Council (SODC) is giving those who are part of the paid-for service the opportunity to put out the equivalent of one extra bin’s worth of garden waste (around three large bin bags).

Home Upgrade Grant

Oxfordshire County Council (OCC) has asked the Parish Council to make residents aware of the Home Upgrade Grant Phase 2 (HUG2) scheme.   HUG2 is a government-backed scheme running from April 2023 to March 2025, providing energy efficiency measures and low carbon heating for low-income households.

Poppy Appeal 2023

The village poppy appeal volunteers will be visiting all parts of the village over the coming days until Remembrance Sunday (12th November).

This year, residents have the option to pay online via a QR code that can be scanned when the poppy seller comes.  Paying with cash is still an option.  The poppy sellers don’t just sell poppies – there are other products available. Continue reading

Spooktacular Stories

Like to quiver in your boots?  On Saturday 28th of October, Pendon Museum will have a guest storyteller in to regale visitors with spooky stories.

Aimed at children aged between five and nine, stories will be told between 11am and 4pm and trains will be running as usual.

Litter Picked!

Well done to everyone who turned out for the Village Litter Pick last Saturday (21st October) morning.

Lots of regulars came along, together with some new faces.

It was a productive morning, with over thirty sacks of rubbish collected.  A delicious lemon drizzle cake with tea and coffee was enjoyed afterwards. Continue reading
