South Oxfordshire District Council (SODC) declared a climate emergency on 11th April 2019, which recognised the need for it to lead the way in reducing carbon emissions to help the county to limit the negative impacts on climate breakdown.

Residents may be aware that South Oxfordshire District Council (SODC) is currently in dispute with the Secretary of State for Housing, the Rt Hon Robert Jenrick, over the future of its Local Plan. He has written to SODC to say that unless it accepts the emerging Local Plan as its draft plan and let it carry on through the inspection process he will confiscate the responsibility for it and hand it to the County Council. The NHS Oxfordshire Clinical Commissioning Group has asked the Parish Council to distribute the following information to residents.
Winter is traditionally the busiest time of year for the NHS, and so patients are being reminded to only use Emergency Departments in Oxford and Banburyin an emergency.
Oxfordshire County Council is seeking the views of residents on proposals to construct a humped zebra crossing and relocate the existing traffic calming on Didcot Road, in order to improve road safety for pedestrians in the vicinity of the adjacent Vanderbilt housing development on the corner of Fieldside and Didcot Road.

The Parish Council has arranged for some spring bulbs to be planted in the small section of grass verge outside the Village Hall. The council would be very grateful if residents would try to avoid walking on the bulbs which are just beginning to come through.

A new private transport service has arrived in Long Wittenham and district. Called Driving Miss Daisy, it says it provides a much needed and valued local service which bridges the gap in the market between taxis, public transport and voluntary agencies.
