Pendon Birthday Celebration

The Pendon Museum celebrated its sixty-fourth birthday yesterday (27th June) with the formal opening of the scale model Bristol Line by BBC Antiques Roadshow transport expert and author Paul Atterbury.

Quarry Fight Continues

The fight continues to stop a huge quarry on land near Clifton Hampden. Despite the county council’s planning committee having rejected previous proposals, Hills Quarry Products has produced a revised application.

Village Meeting Report

More than seventy people packed into Long Wittenham village hall last Thursday evening (21st June) for a meeting called by the parish council to discuss the revision of the Neighbourhood Development Plan (NDP) and to report progress on the Community Hub.

New Warning Signs for Cyclepath

The Parish Council has erected new warning signs on the Long Wittenham to Didcot cyclepath urging cyclist to be aware of horses.  The signs are sited at the entrance to the path at Acklings at the west end of the village and at the junction with the Appleford Road.

Organisations in Long Wittenham are invited to apply to the Parish Council if they would benefit from a financial donation.  Every year the council receives requests, mainly from charities outside the village, but the council is keen to support local initiatives.

Wittfest 2018 22nd-24th June

Music lovers will be flocking to South Oxfordshire’s premier music event this coming weekend.  The annual three-day Wittfest in the garden of The Plough Inn, Long Wittenham, will take place between 6pm and 11pm on Friday 22nd, noon until 11pm on Saturday 23rd and between noon and 5pm on Sunday 24th.  The festival has been running for eighteen years and is a popular event in the local music calendar.
