Oxfordshire County Council (OCC) is proposing to introduce new lower speed limits on the approaches to the village.
Specifically, the proposals comprise a short extension to the existing 30mph speed limit on the High Street at the northern end of the village, to then be accompanied by a new 40mph speed limit to run northwards to meet the existing 30mph speed limit at Clifton Hampden. The Parish Council welcomed a new member to its ranks at its meeting last evening (21st March), when Ian Burton was co-opted as councillor.
Ian, who lives on Saxons Heath, moved to the village in 1975. He has worked as a technician within the nuclear sector for almost forty years.
He played football and cricket locally and is currently the chairman of Long Wittenham Athletic Club and helps out as a groundsman for Clifton Hampden Cricket Club. Continue reading
